Padron Family Reserve 46

The Padron family has released an excellent new cigar, The Padron Family Reserve No. 46, commemorating their 46th year in business.

The cigar, featuring a dark maduro wrapper, is a corona gorda that is 5 1/2 inches long with a fat 56 ring gauge. It is a squared-off trunk-pressed cigar that is made with some of Padron’s oldest tobaccos, with up to 10 years of aging.

Its predecessor, the Padron Family Reserve No. 45, was the highest rated cigar of 2009, (by cigar aficionado) and this one is sure to be a hit as well. This may be my favorite Padron to date, and they are in stock now. Stop by A G Cigars and smoke one of the finest cigars ever produced. I will be looking forward to the 47! This series just gets better each time.

EPC Cigar Co

Ernesto Perez Carrillo the former genius behind La Gloria Cubana is back and has just released his regular core line of cigars. We first saw the introduction of this brand last November with the Edicion Inaugural 2009 Encore cigar. We waited with baited breath as EPC started talking about a regular line of cigars to hit the shelves in early spring, but to no avail. In the late spring, early summer of 2009 they gave us the EPC short run, a very limited selection which proved to be a runaway best seller. They are no longer available, and once again we find ourselves wishing for EPC's on the shelf.

Well they have finally arrived after being released at this years IPCPR in New Orleans and they are fantastic. A fuller bodied version of the Short Run, this cigar will have you coming back for more. Like the Viaje cigars we can look forward to short run micro batches throughout the year from EPC.

New Addition Viaje Cigars

We have added a great new boutique cigar to the A G Cigars line-up. Viaje is a company known to produce cigars in micro batches and offer some fresh ideas in the industry.

Viaje Fifty/Fifty Black Label - This is a very unique offering as part of Viajes core line of cigars and comes in three sizes. The idea behind the Fifty/Fifty is a cigar with two separate and distinct blends. The first half of the cigar starts as a medium blend Nicaraguan and then at the half way point changes to a full bodied smoke. How they achieve this in one cigar is a closely guarded secret and unique in the industry.

Viaje Platino Label - Like all of the Viaje core line cigars, the Platino series is a Nicaraguan Puro with a Nicaraguan Corojo 99 wrapper. This cigar starts with a nice pepper and spice and is medium in strength. Viaje cigars are well made and offer a unique flavor profile.

Viaje Oro Label - Definitely the fuller bodied brother to the Platino line. If you are looking for a cigar with plenty of punch and lots of flavor this is the one to get. Once again this cigar uses the Nicaraguan Corojo 99 wrapper to provide lots of flavor. The Corojo 99 is a staple of the 3 regular Viaje lines.

Viaje also offers several short run and seasonal offerings throughout the year. Available now is the Fifty/Fifty Red label, much like the Black Label except it starts as a medium strength and builds to a medium to full strength. Not quite the powerhouse as the Black Label Fifty/Fifty.

To round out the offerings, Viaje has released the Satori as short run or small batch cigar. This Oscuro Nicaraguan is much milder than the other lines mentioned and offers a very nice balance of flavor. You definitely want to try this limited cigar before they are gone.

AG Cigars Welcomes Carlos Fuente Oct 24th '09

Carlos Fuente Sr will be joining us on Saturday October 24th at the store. Mike has made arrangements for catering, and refreshments will be provided as always. As with any of our events you can expect an unusual selection of cigars that are not readily available.

Carlos Fuente is regarded a very down to earth person, with a warm friendly personality. In 1957 at the age of 22 Mr Fuente bought his fathers cigar business in Tampa, Fl. After moving the operation several times over the years he finally settled in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia produces over 40 million cigars each year.

Please join us in welcoming this pillar of the cigar industry on the 24th. I will post more details as I get them, and for those of you on the email list I will be sending out reminder emails with more details also.

Cain Straight Ligero Cigar

CainSTRAIGHT LIGERO

25% ESTELI LIGERO

27% CONDEGA LIGERO

30% JALAPA LIGERO

Making a Cain By Sam Leccia

Making a Straight Ligero cigar requires a unique understanding of the leaf. Ligero comes from the top of the tobacco plant. Its direct exposure to the sun darkens and thickens this leaf. Smaller than leaves lower on the plant, it also enjoys a concentration of nutrients. Habano Seed Ligero is recognized as the most full flavored leaf on a plant.

Additionally, the region in which this Habano Seed is grown plays a significant role in its flavor and strength.

Esteli Ligero

is the strongest of all the Ligeros. It is used with care as it can overpower the other fillers in a cigar.

Condega Ligero

is a medium body Ligero grown further north of Esteli. While still a very full body leaf, it's more tame strength exhibits complex richness.

Jalapa Ligero

is the smoothest of these powerhouses. Jalapa is the northern most tobacco region of Nicaragua. Jalapa Ligero is grown in a valley and enjoys less direct sun, the result is a full body leaf with a more noticeable range of flavor.

The triple fermented Nicaraguan wrapper adds complexity to the ligero fillers and is instock now in limited supplies. I am expecting several shipments of this great new cigar during the next few weeks. Stop in and give one a try.

Illusione Epernay
Topic: Illusione Epernay

The Epernay cigar is named for the heart of the French Champagne region. The blend is lighter and patterned after the original ECCJ release. The wrapper is shade grown corojo replacing some of the spicy character of the other blends with a sweeter tobacco finish. Unfortunately this is a limited production cigar and one of the finest cigars I have had the pleasure of smoking. Be sure to stop in and pick a few for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

We are well stocked with Illusione by Dion and look forward to his newest offering due to be released this fall, the Illusione Nosotros. More to follow as the details arrive.
